Tummy Time

I've included this week's pictures as well as our XMas tree. Another week of Melanie's growth and escapades. She is really spending more time sucking on her hands/fingers and soothing herself. The daycare is helping with her interest and growth in these areas by encouraging self-soothing... but not to the point where she gets angry. I have been cleansed of my total concern for her well-being when she is there during the day. Now it is just a matter of looking forward to seeing her super-smiling face when she recognizes me at pick-up time. Yes, it's true. The title of this post is "Tummy Time". Why? Well... this week Melanie turned herself onto her stomach and then wiggled herself around to a more comfortable position to suck on her pacifier. That is the last pictures above. We were pretty proud of her that day. Melanie has been growing her interest in toys and things around her. She has been looking at herself and playing with her papasan chair's reflective mirror and mobile. Now she is at the point where she will try to grasp them. We recently started hanging a new toy from her car seat handle while we're in transit. She bats at it with her hands from time to time. Melanie continues to grow her voice. Giggling has become more frequent. Different kinds of sounds and expressions continue to occur on a daily basis. Over this weekend we are expected to get up to 8" of snow, according to the local weather I watched this morning. Within the last hour it has gone from no snow to our grass being almost covered. The snow is coming down pretty thick. It is beautiful! Until next time, I hope everyone is staying warm and cuddly as the winter season is soon here!
