Butterfly Palace - Summer Trip (July 8th)

On Thursday we went to Butterfly Palace in Branson, Missouri. Matt, Melanie, Jennifer, Noah, Ethan, Chase, Nancy, and I all went together.

We started by watching a short, 3-D movie about the life of a butterfly and praying mantis. I am glad it was a short movie because Melanie was not very interested. I believe it was only around 15 minutes.

Other areas of the tour included the room full of creatures, another room with special environment settings for all the butterflies, and then a maze of mirrors. Melanie had a great time.

Melanie observing the turtles.

We watched one of the turtles being fed worms.

The rest of the pictures are from inside the butterfly environment.

Safari hat, magnifying glass, and curiosity.... CHECK. Cute girl.... CHECK.
Melanie's cousin, Ethan, is in the background. Melanie put on the getup when she saw Ethan doing it. She formed an attachment to Ethan.

A Blue Morpho Butterfly landed on the back of Matt. It stayed there for a long time. Many other people inside the butterfly environment stopped to take a picture. These particular butterflies are normally in a rainforest habitat. There were a lot of them there but they would not land or stay still long enough to capture a picture. One of the workers said that it was a sign of good luck when one landed on you and stayed. Very cool!

Dogwood Canyon - Summer Trip (July 4th)

All of these pictures were taken at Dogwood Canyon. It is south of Branson West, where we visited Matt's parents and the rest of the Jones family. We went on a guided, covered "bench ride" on Sunday, July 4th.
