11 Months old.... and growing

Melanie is fast approaching her 1st birthday. It has been hard to know we can't spend every day, all day with her like we would both love to. However, we take great comfort in knowing she is a happy, healthy, giggly baby that wakes up with a smile for us every day. I know someday my face may not bring a smile to her face... I'm cherishing it now for as long as I can.

We will be celebrating her first birthday on Saturday, September 6th at 12:00 pm. Come for lunch and stay for the cake. :o)

She is not walking completely on her own quite yet. She will walk quickly like a little speed-demon when assisted. She is now taking a step between taller toys, too. She will take a step from the coffee table to another area but cannot quite take a couple steps at a time. At any time now we'll see those frist several steps happening. We are excited

Here are some pictures from the last several weeks enjoy!

Matt picked up a drum machine at a garage sale. This has fast become one of her favorite things to play with. She will hit a button and "groove" to the beat. It is so fun to watch.
Cousins Sara, Robbie, and Katie gave this great toy to Melanie. A Little People minivan that makes different noises. She loves to play by wheeling it along the floor and chewing on the "little people" inside.

Melanie is showing growing interest in feeding herself with spoons/forks. She has already mastered the pick-up-with-hand-put-in-mouth movements... but she loves to play around with the spoon/fork and bowls after a meal.

Look at those teeth! She has 7 teeth now... these are just two on the bottom that have grown in the most.
You can not see it clearly from the picture but Melanie was "grooving" to her drum machine. I surprised her in the middle of a body-bending-shaking moment.

Melanie received her first Legos this week. Matt is a huge fan of the Lego dynasty... so he sat down right away and making a castle for her. She loves to play with them already.

Have a great weekend!
